Honestly Good Reads | The Fall Edition

I come from a family of readers. I can clearly see in my mind, a box full of books that sat in my Granny's front closet. And thinking back on it now, I can recall my Mother with a similar box of books in all of our homes. My Saturday mornings were for curling up in the bed reading a good book. While my brother blasted One Saturday Morning from the basement. The first book that I truly fell in love with was Flyy Girl by Omar Tyree.

I still remember staying up all night because I just had to know how the book would end. I wanted to be Tracy and I could see myself in those pages. Books have always been my thing and is the reason why I want to become an author. I want to contribute to the medium that has given so much to me! I have noticed that I am at my best when I am writing and reading frequently.

Lucky for you! I've been on an amazing groove:

The Vanishing Half

Soon to be an HBO Max original, this is the first book that got under my skin. This is the story about identical twins who run away from home in the middle of the night- but that's only the beginning of this twisting tale. A multi-generational book that will keep you turning the page and leave you wondering: if I could- would I do the same?

Royal Holiday

This holiday tale will have you thinking about taking a trip to London. It's an original story about a woman of a "certain" age, falling in love with life again. This book was the perfect reminder that it's never too late to have a happy ending. I can't wait until this gets turned into a movie. I have a feeling it will be an instant holiday classic!

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (A Hunger Games Novel)

Did you know that the Hunger Games have a prequel? Yeah, me either. Thank god for the neighborhood bookstore. This book is the origin story of President Snow. It's a good reminder that monsters aren't formed overnight but created by the choices they make on a daily basis, This book left me wondering; perhaps it's man's beliefs about humanity that have always been the downfall of humanity.

The Lying Game

This book worked my nerves and yet, in the end, I found myself in a pool of tears. A cautionary tale about a group of friends who had a lie come back to haunt them. This page-turner is filled with twists and turns- and just when you think you know what the story is all about, it changes. An irritating but excellent read. This book was a great reminder that what's done in the dark will always come to light.

Crazy Rich Asians

After taking this book to Miami as a beach filler, I didn't expect to fall madly in love with it or to buy the whole series! But that's exactly what happened! We have all heard the saying that "the book is better than this movie," but in this case- the book really is better! I loved the movie and watched it several times. Yet, I was still pleasantly surprised how it all unraveled. This book is a beautiful romance that gives a realistic twist on a timeless fairy tale!
